Hi! I want to know your experiences with Ziprasidone (Geodon) and Chlorpromazine (Thorazine/Largactil). And about the voices

Cardiac diagnostics are quite advanced these days so make sure you are checked out by a doctor to see if there is a problem. If there is, it will be easy to nail down. I was born with a serious heart condition and I take Geodon. My cardiologist feels the risks from the AP are quite minor compared to the benefits, and the beta blockers and ACE inhibitor I take fix the problems I am having (which persist when I stop taking Geodon).

It doesn’t always…but it exacerbates existing disease and does always cause a heart abnormality- a prolonged QT interval. It’s basically a drawn out heartbeat. Geodon quits working after several years, I think the risks it brings with heart conditions is unnecessary given the other options. A prolonged QT along with other drugs that also prolong the QT is deadly waters.

Dude stop taking one of those! Geodon an Thorazine can kill you. You should get a new doc.

Some docs and profs are incorrect. They’re not guaranteed to be correct.

@mortimermouse,

And if I stop to take to take Geodon and only take Thorazine,
even if I started Thorazine a few days ago?

What is your opinion and the opinion of the forum about it?
Should I do it or not?

Well you need to talk to an on call doctor of medicine

But if you just started Thorazine and that started the funny heart stuff, go off Thorazine only

If you were taking Geodon then stay on it

Run that by a psychiatrist before you do anything but you should know that Geodon and Thorazine is too dangerous

@mortimermouse,

And if I take only Thorazine, is it better for me, I think, what do you think about it?

@mortimermouse,

This irregular heartbeat started with Geodon.

@mortimermouse,

This is the sad thing of psychiatry, we take a medicine thinking that it will help us, and it always have a side effect. :sob:

When did you start taking what and when did the heart issue begin?

@mortimermouse,

I started taking Geodon 1 month ago, few days after that the faster heartbeat started, I think it was in the same day, and my family has a heart problems history, I think that I’ll stop taking Geodon and only take Thorazine, this action will help me to continue alive…

And you’ve been on Thorazine for a few days and Geodon for a month? How much Geodon were you taking a month ago?

@mortimermouse,

I’m taking 80 mg, 2 times per day since I started to take it, 1 month ago.

How much Thorazine are you taking?

@mortimermouse,

But all medications i’ve started I stopped one and started another.
The pdocs that I have met didn’t say anything about stopping slowly the medications.

@mortimermouse,

I’m taking 100 mg of Thorazine. 1 pill per day only.

What else are you taking?

@mortimermouse,

Only these 2 meds.

Your best bet is stop the Thorazine because that much won’t help you it will only hurt. Stay on the Geodon if you really have been on it for a month.

Geodon alone is not likely to kill you. Geodon plus Thorazine has a worse risk.

You should never have been prescribed both at the same time.

I would stay on the Geodon and stop the Thorazine because that much Thorazine isn’t enough to help you.

If you know a doctor, call and ask them for help. This is getting too serious for this site.

By the way that is the max dose of Geodon you are taking
