Hi everyone I’m kinda new

Hey Cindy! Welcome to this awesome place for support and chit chat. It may have been answered but your psychiatrist can recommend an involuntary psychiatric hold if you are a danger to yourself or others. It is rare and usually when it happens it is usually with treatment in mind. Don’t worry about it so much. It is best to be honest about how you are feeling with your psychiatrist. Have a good day and welcome!

Hi @Cindy10! Welcome to the forum! In most cases, your pdoc won’t admit you with homicidal or suicidal intentions, as has been stated. I used to have a doctor that always asked if I wanted to go to the hospital, but he was a lousy doctor.

Thank you so much @anon40653964 I worry about it because my husband is only home on the weekends and nobody would be here to feed my cats

Welcome! I hope you are doing well. To answer your question, I think it is important to be honest with your doctor, it’s hard I know, but they are professionals and are there to help you. But yes if you are a danger to yourself or someone else they can put you in the hospital until you are in a better mental state.

Good idea. Every time i go into the Docs office I leave a bag filled with clothes just in case I get hospitalized, so my family can bring them to me. Just a tip. I hope they don’t hospitalize you though. Stay safe keep us posted on how it goes.

I forgot to add that it is totally acceptable to talk about your, for lack of a better word, fear of going to the hospital. If fears the wrong word then maybe talk about the inconvenience going to the hospital would cause.

Tell your doctor how you feel about the hospital, and if they are a good pdoc they will reassure you.

hey @Cindy10 happy to meet you !! don’t be embarrassed by what you feel is delusion…your brain while delusional was described to me as a wildfire in the forest…and the longer you are delusional the higher the flames go on the wildfire. it causes brain damage…not good not good…yes be honest with your pdoc. everyone is saying that…just so refreshing to see a new member…welcome.

Welcome newbie and Cindy.:slightly_smiling_face:

Glad you are enjoying the forum.:two_hearts:

When I was my worst I did not tell my drs my symptoms.i didn’t tell them about voices 24/7, delusions and etc
I told them very little back then.

It took me over twenty years to say I’m schizophrenic despite having been diagnosed by over seven psychiatrist.

Being honest with your Dr is probably a good thing.
Maybe you can ask him to please not admit you to a hospital but just work with you.

Hello and welcome. I have trust issues with my pdoc too. I have a fear that if i tell them everything then theyll lock me up indefinitely. there are two truths.

  1. A doctor can write a form on you for 24 hours if he thinks you are unwell.

  2. Locking someone up forever is not the goal or preferred course of action ever.

A story as proof: about a decade ago this guy went on a bus and beheaded a 20 year old man with a twelve inch hunting knife for no apparent reason.

What happened to this criminally insane person? Well hes not in a prison or mental hospital. Hes now living in the community.

I seriously doubt you’re crazier then he was, so I wouldn’t worry about being locked up.

I hope everything turns out fine. Good luck!

the main criteria for hospital admittance is whether you are a harm to yourself or others,
