@Wave
Have you received treatment for your ocd? Do you take medication for it? Have you made progress with it?
I’m really struggling with my thought life this week.

I’m really struggling with my thought life this week.
Antidepressants are the medications used to treat OCD, and I can’t tolerate AD’s because of mania.
I don’t take meds for OCD symptoms and I am not in therapy for it either.
I just try to manage through the symptoms, like intrusive thoughts on my own.
I know the risperidone is making things worse as far as OCD goes.
@Wave Thank you for responding! I’m so sorry the risperidone is making things worse!
I can’t take ADs for the same reason!
May I ask, how do you manage through the symptoms on your own?
I kind of just suffer through them and wait till they pass on their own.
Maybe exposure therapy or CBT could help you @FlyingPurplePeopleMeeter.
I’m sorry I’m asking so many questions! Do you just distract yourself? Do they go away? Do you attach meaning to them? Do you ever feel ashamed of them?
I am in intensive outpatient for exposure therapy. However, it’s outrageously expensive so I will need to stop soon. Just trying to learn coping skills now.
Yes I try to distract myself by doing other things like cleaning up, watching tv or listening to music.
Okay. Thanks for the tips!
I’m currently on low 10mg starting dose of prozac for depression and OCD. I’ll have to watch out for manias in case I need to continue with depakote. So far invega is blocking mania
How long have you been on it @Ale? Have you seen improvement in your ocd?
2 weeks now. I think I’m doing good with obsessive thoughts, but today is really my first happy day so it’s kind of early to tell.
I wish to God that I could tolerate AD’s.
It’s really too bad.
I wish that for you, too, Wave. I sooo want you to feel happy and motivated! I don’t want you to struggle with ocd or abandonment issues. I want you to feel whole and complete and fulfilled!
Thanks @FlyingPurplePeopleMeeter!

While I’m not dx as OCD, I have “OCD tendancies”. At my last appt w my pdoc, she told me I have to learn to let things go, stop overthinking, and concentrate on one thing at a time.
Could you explain what that means? Not sure who to ask. Thanks
Sounds like you obsess over things @JustTrish.
This is similar to overthinking.
I do this a lot myself.
Try to distract yourself with other activities when this happens.
This kind of helps me.
That makes sense. I can distract myself from repetitive thoughts. I’ve just got to figure out what I can distract myself with.
Thanks! That helps!
