Help me think of similar things

I’m applying for lots of library jobs. I also applied for a museum job.

I’m really just looking for something quiet and low key like these places. Can you think of something quiet that doesn’t require much skill?

I have an associates in general studies and psychology. And am looking for part time work.

Any ideas?

I always thought a library job sounded appealing. Books and quiet–two of my favorite things!

You’ve not been present when two homeless (or is that unhoused) people have a bare-knuckle brawl over the last remaining computer, I take it. Quiet? Nope.

A bookstore job might be nice although I dont know how many brick and mortar bookstores still exist.

What about working in a thrift store @bittercat

Sometimes you can get a security job that is quiet and doesn’t require much skills. But not all of them are so. But a security company might be worth looking into and letting them know what you are looking for.

I worked for a summer for a rare bookstore in New York. That was really fun. We acquired the entire art historical library of a dealer of an art dealer and we cataloged and packaged his entire library over the summer. He was a great job

Most of the libraries where I am located are quiet. Though I did apply to be a float in the city. I am worried about the patrons there.

There’s a Barnes and noble that is opening up near me. I’ve applied:)

Good luck to you too!

I’ve looked into security. Idk if I’m the right person for it. If I have to tell someone they can’t be somewhere or monitor peoples activities as my main duty I think I’d fail pretty quickly as I am extremely conflict avoidant.

Barnes & Noble is a great place to work— it was my first job fresh out of my first psychosis.

The bookstore is a good environment— peoples’ noses deep in books, good music playing, and the smell of coffee wafting through the store.

Good luck!

Thank you! I’m hoping to get it though im a little sad that it’s opening in my hometown. I’m sure I’ll be seeing lots of familiar faces from highschool and what not. I’ve gained so much weight maybe they won’t recognize me.

I understand the feeling— I am also self-conscious about my appearance post-diagnosis :grimacing:.

It’s hard putting oneself out there again, especially because some people like to talk. But you’re doing you, earning money and being a productive human, and there’s no shame in that.

Janitor or night shift cleaning is probably super quiet and you can do it alone.
