Going to start supported employment

Next week.

I told them I have a job but I want to keep looking in case I can find something that would make me less paranoid.

Basically I’m looking for a quieter job.

They said I’m required to fill out lots of applications and they do it with me

They’ll also help me with my resume and interview questions.

I’m not going to quit my current job unless I find something better.

Hopefully you can find something better.

Thanks. Where I’m at is extremely busy and loud with tons of contact with people.

I think that’s what’s making me so paranoid but I could be wrong

I wouldn’t like that. I’ve had two cashier jobs like that before and I’m glad I don’t have to do that anymore.

Ok. Yeah I tried 2 jobs last year but only lasted less than a week at both. Other than that I haven’t worked in 10 years

I only lasted a few months at my cashier jobs. I haven’t worked since 2012. I was unloading trucks at Walmart and I got tired of it after about five months.

I’d stick with it for as long as you can.

I worked at bed bath and beyond for my second job over 15 years ago or so. They trained us to do various positions including cashier. I hated being a cahsier and dealing with money.

I thought it would be easier to deal with dollar tree since it’s quieter and smaller. Most people pay cash or with a card. I don’t think people use checks anymore, which is good.

As a customer, I’ve seen people that are terrible with change like not counting it back or struggling. The machine does everything these days. Most of the terrible folks work at the gas stations in my opinion though…

Supported employment sounds great.

Dealing with customers can be frustrating and a challenge! Maybe you can do a different position or something? Don’t feel so unsure of yourself.

I’m happy you got a job.

Thanks. The place I’m at has cashiers do the stocking as well. We also clean at the end of the shift. This is because only 2 people work at a time. So it’s super busy. @Anthony1337

When I worked at a gas station, 2017-2020, I worked midnights, always worked alone. It was so taxing on my mental health. I still have to deal with customers sometimes at my current job, but at least it’s not nearly as much, not to mention the only time I’m alone is early in the morning before the staff starts comIng in or late at night after they all leave.
