hi! I’m pretty new here (made an account a couple months ago and have been reading posts every now and then, but have been pretty shy about posting so forgive my nerves…)
I’m 22 years old and was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder (bipolar type) about two years ago. It’s scary cause I’m a freshman in college and I’m pretty sure everyone on campus thinks I’m crazy already… school is pretty hard for me but I have a really nice support system with my doctor, therapist, and my roommate. This is my third try going to college, having dropped out twice before (due to my disorder…). I’m on a pretty nice art scholarship here so I’m very hopeful this time will work out, I really want my degree!
I hope I can be more brave and post here more often, as well as meet some new people! Y’all seem like a really supportive group (and yes, I’m from the south…where we say y’all)
It’s a marathon with schizophrenia/sz aff and not a race. You’ll soon learn what works for you but keep on the pills and be honest with your doctors/therapists etc.
You’ll learn some stuff and don’t be shy. Hey…it’s just the internet…besides Nigerian scammers on the general internet what are you worried about? There isn’t too much bad around here…it’s all moderated pretty well and people watch what is going on!
Look forward to your future posts and again welcome!
Hi @synthetic, welcome to the forum. I am relatively new here also and don’t say very much due to being shy as well. I am slowly coming out of my shell, I am sure you will too.
South…hmm…big part of country. I like the think my house is it’s own world. Nut ventured out yesterday to celebrate my dog is cancer free! Tumor benign!! But vet couldn’t get in all out so have to watch closely
