Heart weirdness/twinges

Do other people get weird twinges in the heart area of chest? Ever since I started antipsychotics this happened to me. I’ve had heart tests done and they all come back fine. I always think I have heart problems and they lieing to me… But i think it the APs

I get some funny glitches with my heart, I can feel them, I literally mean my heart as in the organ not soul or whatever. My med causes fuckery with the QT interval which is just a shitty side effect- I might have a shortened life expectancy but it’s worth it.

When I approached my GP with this sort of problem, he pointed out that I probably meant the muscles in my chest. He showed me it couldn’t be my heart because the heart is an organ that you can’t really attribute symptoms of this kind to. I do**emphasized text know about my heart that it feels things emotionally and I can attribute all kinds of physical sensations to it which, if approached by a doctor, he would not be able to describe in a clinical way.*

Hi Smprz84! I have had these very same things happen to me for most of my life. I have lived with schizophrenia for over forty years. I also have had my heart monitored, with nothing unusual showing up. I have come to the belief that these medical professionals are not telling us the truth. That’s my two cents.

What does your doctor say on it and does he/she know of your mental illness? As I’m inclined to think it’s anxiety related if the test are conning back negative. Rather than med related. Don’t disregard continuing getting your heart checked if it happens again though. As I’m far from being qualified to say.

I’m sorry mouse!!!

I was on Latuda and felt weird short of breathe then went to workout one day and had felt like my heart was sore and short of breathe. So quite APs and the pain lasted for like 3 months and I still get twinges I’m back on drugs/ haldol and whenever I feel it I always think it’s drug related, now that I had every test done except an angiogram. I thought I had a clogged arterie

I’m not even anxious though

And again… What does your doctor say on it and does he/she know of your mental illness?

Doc says its chest wall pain, like a muscle or something or anxiety. I think it from the drugs makes my muscle spaz out around my heart.

Why do you take propanol? Is it for your heart glitches or high blood pressure?

Anxiety takes many forms. Heart palpitations one of them.

Much like depression anxiety tends to be a by-product of sz sometimes.

Again I can’t emphasize this enough Don’t disregard continuing getting your heart checked if it happens again though. Much better to be safe then sorry. I’m sure your doctor will agree.

Blood pressure and tremors

AP’s mess with your heart period.

Yes it is a well known fact.

Not everyone will get cardiac issues from AP use, but a lot of us will.

I got Tachycardia - fast heart beat when I raised the Risperdal to doses over 3 mg and even at 2.5 mg I am getting occasional glitches from time to time.

I am afraid to switch to another AP because they all carry cardiac risks - Yes I am cautious this way

I believe following(I dont want preach paranoia here): Some doctors have the belief that you as a psychiatric patient needs schizo meds, but are not equipped to understand this. They will tell you that it cant possibly be side effects, but more likely anxiety. All in the name off psychiatric treatment. I dont know what to tell you, other than try to to be high functioning so that you need less meds. It is a fact however that psych meds, are notorioulsy bad for the heart. To the OP, if you have a choice, use it and switch to somehing else.

See a cardio if you want to know for sure. The chest wall theory is possible but not necessarily correct.

While on seroquel I had arrhythmia. A couple times I would get out of bed to use the bathroom and would blackout while standing, which doesn’t happen while not on seroquel. Luckily I don’t have to take it on a regular basis.

I just restarted abilify this week and have had the same heart palpitations. Normally I only get them when very anxious or over caffeinated. Palpitations happening randomly is kindof a scary feeling.
