Hear voices when listening to music

First of all I have been suffering from schizophrenia for over a year now. I have been on Risperdal, Abilify and now Zyprexa and nothing has given me relief. When I listen to music with earbuds I hear the voices the most. Can anyone give me some advice?

I’ve started hearing voices more often esp when listening to music. Sorry I can’t really help you.

Sorry I can’t help with this, usually putting on my headphones/in my ear buds which ever I’m using it tends to help with the noise…I think because I paying attention the music and not the voices.

Yes DON’T DO THIS.I have about 50% hearing because I did this for years while i was playing video games I guess im really dense because it wasnt until recently that I realized the only way to shut them out is to occupy my mind.Reading is good I spent years reading you just have to be careful because one could get too acclimated to it there was about 5 yrs or so where thw only place I went was to the store at 3 in the morning when it was absolutely necessary and to the liquor storw right down the street because my world was reading 1 book after another.

Right now im playing video games and excercises help alot.Games that really make me think seem to help. Sorry thats all I have.

I don’t listen to the music blaringly, just loud enough to block out unwanted noises. I can’t have it too loud or it gives me a headache. I try reading but sometimes that bothers me more because the words on the pages start mushing together and become on recognizable.

I would suggest listening to something without lyrics like jazz, classical, or instrumental hip hop. I went through this too and i basically took a long break from listening to music especially music with lyrics that draw out a lot of emotions. Take a break from music for awhile then try listening to instrumental music. Two online Jazz stations that i listen to are www.KCSM.org out of San Francisco and www.kjazz.org out of Cali. Spotify has some good instrumental hip hop cds that I enjoy listening to. Best wishes I hope this helps.

They have these things called natural ionizers that are a aquarium small aquarium pump that pumps water maybe 8-12 inches up then that water flows over rocks creating a natural white noise …or you could just dowload background type noise like that. That could make it worse though.

Man it really sucks this disorder.I hope you do better and find some peace.

Uh you need to tell your doctor. Music distracts me from hallucinations most of the time. I’m listening to Green Day right now. I mostly listen to Slipknot. Slipknot is efficacious at improving your global assessment of functioning score. Proven in sample size of one, clinically.

Mouse subjects himself to radical experiments like when he signed up for a Macy’s rewards card and gave them his social security number for 45% off a 360$ suit and had money left over for drinks.

Dammit

Does this music contain voices to begin with that seem to be speaking to you?

Personally, I just listen to wildlife sounds.

Sometimes loud music makes voices worse for me. They have to scream and yell to be heared. Try lowering the volume. Also on low volume you have to concentrate on the music to hear it. Concentration can make voices fade for a while.

When this happened to me… I had to switch to music with out lyrics. Music with lyrics made it worse for me for a while.

I’m just getting to the point now were I can take a few bands with lyrics, but not many.

Good luck

I still sometimes get this for some but not all songs!

The latest one that triggered it was Sia Elastic Heart and Roadrage by Catatonia.

I guess you could try listening to somthing else, or if that dosent help do somthing else to keep yourself occupied!

dont listen too music.
or
listen too music in a different language example spanish, see if this helps.
or music without vocals/ instrumental
