I’m pretty successful at keeping my weight off for the most part. I count calories using a calorie counting app year round, continuously. I also practice yoga regularly and walk on occasion. I weigh myself rather frequently, in the mornings. I drink hot, black, unsweetened coffee and unsweetened ice tea throughout the day and evening to quell my appetite. These seem to be the only things I need to do to maintain my normal BMI, which I have been maintaining since 2015.
Eat porridge, a lot of it.

I’ve had similar approach to maintaining my weight over the years.
I’ve been on a journey to shed some pounds too, so I totally get where you’re coming from. One thing I’ve found super helpful is sticking to a balanced diet and regular exercise routine. It’s all about finding what works best for your body and lifestyle, right?
Limit calories.
Eat healthy.
Cutting sugar and carbs literally will drop weight unless caused by AP meds. On some meds I can starve myself and gain weight.
Right now on a little 150mg seroquel and already gaining weight

Trying not to lose weight fast is healthiest. Slow and steady wins the race.
Focus on slow and steady weight loss like 1-2 pounds a week. It’s all about calories in vs calories out. It takes a 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound of fat. If you have a fitness tracker lots of times they show basic calories burned per day, a 500 calorie deficit per day would lead to a 1 pound weight loss per week. It is also advised not to eat under 1200 calories a day to prevent yourself from going into starvation mode. I lost my first 60 pounds eating a balanced diet of 1550 calories a day. I was on psych meds while I did this. A few months ago I switched to a ketogenic diet and lost another 30 pounds. But I felt like the keto diet was too extreme and I’m back to eating a balanced diet around 1650 calories a day or more depending on how much activity I do
I also recommend getting active, even just walking a mile a day to start. Doesn’t matter how slow or fast you go movement helps weight loss.
Burn more calories than you consume.
