Healthy eating

I dont question the potential for weight loss at all.

Your also on a weight loss drug?

I’m on the minimum dose of vraylar without keto or the Mediterranean Diet. :stuck_out_tongue: Granted, I am still quite heavy though.

Yup. Keeps my appetite manageable. I have lost before without, but I am always starving. Now I am able to eat small portions and get full and not crave things I shouldn’t eat, especially sweets.

Yeah just having a look. Still. It’s a no brainer. Exercise and specific diets help. I’m just saying keto does amazing things and I had issues with what you describe too. it doesn’t really matter how you get there but without the medical approach it would seem keto is still a good option at least to get off some pounds…when you do that it’s all an option anyways if you like food and to eat which is good.

Food is living so you have to enjoy food!

Yes. I know. You say it daily.

It is well established that you will have more energy and fewer positive and negative symptoms as a schizophrenic if you drop a substantial amount of weight while improving diet and increasing exercise. Period. This is not a shocker. It doesn’t really matter which diet so long as it is balanced and you are not neglecting specific nutrients. I know you’re sweet on this Palmer dude, but I’ve read his stuff and it comes across as quackish. It specifically disturbs me to see keto being promoted as an alternative to head meds when we have all seen what happens to almost everyone here who goes off of them. I personally think the guy is dangerous.

I have to say, losing weight and exercising has been awesome for my self-esteem and improved my life in a lot of ways, but it honestly hasn’t affected my sza in any significant way. I still have problems with self harm and SI and delusions, and those don’t seem to change a whole lot whether i eat celery or Hershey bars. The psych meds…they keep me well enough to make it possible for me to make the lifestyle changes that are improving my health. Without the meds i would still be sitting in Chattahoochee state hospital watching a TV all day.

Yeah. I don’t. I actually read his book and it leaved a lot to be desired.

My shrink got me onto it. He’s pretty good and on top of things and it’s a thing. That others use it for quakery doesn’t make it any different. It’s been a good thing for me and it’s hard to share that.

I’ve never said I’m sweet on Palmer dude because you’ve made it a non word which is cool because I don’t agree with the idiots who promote that shite but it’s still a real thing that works. I can attest to that. I am still on meds. I’m thriving on the lo carb/ keto thing.

losing the weight is amazing anyways and I didn’t do the medical approach. It’s something most people here could do. I’ve done it since June last year so survived a year although I can’t find original post.

I find raw celery is really satisfying.

I also enjoy a banana with each meal and it’s got plenty of potassium, so heart healthy. Very tasty and creamy.

I have to emphasise that I find wholegrain rice really amazing. It’s a complex carbohydrate so helps to prevent diabetes, when eaten as part of a balanced moderate lifestyle

Started a diet again one I’ve kinda done a few times and had success with but a bit different this time

I lost like 50 pounds before eating a lot of oatmeal. I also lost some weight eating chicken salad.

This time I’ll have them both alternating whenever I feel like having either of them.

Been going good so far!

I have lost 16 kilo swimming 3 times a week and not buying snacks/sugary foods

Also stopped takeaways

Now if I get an urge for a takeaway I decide to have something from home instead rather than just ordering food

Also too expensive and the money I save is very much welcome

Im currently on weight watchers which is an amazing diet if you want to make healthy choices. I ate 3 cups of icecream the other day without looking at the point count for icecream on the diet. It was nearly 100% of my daily points. Fruit, veggies, lean meat, and eggs are all free points while on the weight watchers diet. Im finding myself eating much healthier food and measuring out my portions. Im not losing weight as fast id like but i am losing at a slow and steady pace. There is an app where you can search for food point quantities and track your daily and weekly points. I noticed that the diet is almost the exacly opposite of keto. Low fat, and healthy carbs. Its a super easy diet and it changes your perspective of taking a serious look at the quality of food you
eat. Highly recommend the weight watchers diet.

I went to the dietician who said I should come off my keto, due to research within her field… I heard keto could allow you to weane off medication but dietician said the Mediterranean diet would be better! For me, might be different for you….

I appreciate all your guys input, sadly my dietician left the office so I need to find a new one. I’m still on keto at the moment but considering stopping. I think that cutting out sugar and processed foods was a big help by itself.

When I did keto my blood pressure was so low I had to add loads of salt to my diet.

For someone who had high blood pressure this seems at odds with my previous low salt diet.

It is ever so expensive buying lots of meat too.

Keto is not horrible if your doctor has cleared it and if you are not messing with head meds. No need to put extra pressure on yourself.

Yes my doctor knows but she doesn’t want me to come off my meds like I did previously.
