There’s a story out there where a USC student got into a vehicle she thought was a her Uber. She just got into some random car and the people kidnapped and killed her.
I’ve never used Uber or Lyft. How are you supposed to know which car is your Uber?

Uber doesn’t have something similar. I guess I don’t worry about it much, but I’ll probably start asking them to roll down the window and seeing if they already know my name, which they would if they were my driver.
I always use the same local taxi firm, I know all the drivers and the cars are instantly recognisable, I tend to stick with what I know.

I use the volunteer transportation.
Uber and lyft also send you the license plate number and name/picture of the driver. I got harassed by an Uber driver when me and my friend were getting a ride back to my house. I didn’t report him, because he had my home address. It was real scary. But that was my only bad experience. Everyone else has been great. I only get female drivers now, and none of them have harassed me or made me feel unsafe.
I can’t get this horrific story out of my mind!

It’s a setting. I think it might only be a setting for other women though. We’re the ones most likely to be harassed/assaulted.

I get so many comments about leaving stuff off polls. Maybe someone can’t remember if their last Uber was 10 months or 14 months. Just covering that base.
The uber driver usually asks you when you open the door is your name such n such? They will also send you a picture of the uber driver and a picture of the make and model of the car they are driving along with the color of the car. They send this to your phone before the driver arrives. I have only used uber when I’m out of town when I dont have my car. If you ever use it please tip the driver. It’s hard to make a living doing uber when you factor in gas and wear and tear on your car.
They give you the uber drivers first name and they should know your first name when you go to get In the car. If you feel uncertain that they are really the uber driver ask for their name or ask if they know your name if they dont you will know something’s wrong. I think this could of been avoided if she was paying better attention. Just be aware if you ever take uber. Uber drivers do have to pass a background check. The people who get in their car do not. So it can be unsafe for them as well. Before uber I know I read that taxi drivers and the graveyard shift at gas stations were the most dangerous jobs.
What about a regular taxi? So the driver is likely not a lunatic.
Im sure they would have to pass a background check as well. I’ve never had a problem with my taxi driver or uber driver. Some were more talkative then others.
Uber drivers are not screened properly.
There is no fingerprint screening process involved.

This makes me afraid of Uber. An Uber driver drove around Michigan killing 6 people. It happened in 2016.
We use a taxi firm where I live. You can do most of the same stuff you can do on Uber. You have to pay in cash though
