Have you asked gp to check your prolactin?

Sometimes aps can raise levels of prolactin.

I’m on aripiprazole and I have hyperprolactinaemia.

Just found out today.

Does anyone know the consequences or risks associated with hyperprolactinaemia?

That’s a good question for your health care provider. Also, ask them what additional tests they recommend to figure out the reason for the elevated value.

Also a quick google search indicates that aripiprazole has no effect on or may even lower serum prolactin.

@Moonbeam

Yeh I will raise this with my GP.

Yes abilify is supposed to lower prolactin or not affect it.

I read that long term prolactinameia is associated with bone loss and even infertility.

High prolactine cause decreased bone density.other than there is not much significant risks.(its pretty harmless)but high prolactine can be results of other health condition if you not taking another medicine besides aripiprazole.if so you should check gp.you can also ask chatgpt for what health condition cause high prolactine

Mine was over 1200 on that measure but they were not massively concerned

I kicked up a big fuss about it and they just tried to calm me down

It might help

It’s good u tried. Unfortunately they don’t do something sometimes.

My ovarie has been on off in pain 4 1 year. Or at least that area.

They are rubbish aren’t they

I was referred to have a camera procedure down my throat to see why I am vomiting at night but that was over 6 months ago and still not got a letter

Then my cholesterol was high after I stopped statins due to liver damage. I asked the GP and he said my liver was still in bad shape and that I should be more concerned with smoking than cholesterol

A few relatives have also died recently for things that should have got picked up sooner

Healthcare is in a real mess rn

Sorry to hear about your relatives. And the liver. Liver can regenerate sometimes so there is some hope.

Yes it’s a nightmare at my GP too sometimes, I understand.

I didn’t even get routine prolactin I had to request it. My old gp used to do that automatically. So yeh,

Medication side effects, on a biochemical level, on one side I think heeeeyyyy my body can adapt!!!

Another small side of me says that oh this is speeding up ageing and age related issues.

I like to think my body can adapt. U know, so let’s pretend say my prolactin was high due to aps
I’d like to think that actually, yes it may be, but the body likes to be in a state of HOMEOSTASIS so therefore,

Something else in my body is activated that restores the balance.

Wouldn’t that be nice…

Thanku. Yes that’s what I’m going to do next week.

And guess wat,…

I have hirstuism myself. Yay!

bone thinning, infertility, breast tumors, cell changes anywhere

mine was very high. about 8-10x the normal limit. but abilify is supposed to lower prolactin.

i did some math and mine would have been about 4000 on that scale.

I know it affects testosterone in men (high prolactin = low test), so perhaps in women it affects estrogen? Some men even lactate from high prolactin.
