So I’m being forced to move out because my Dad is taking his wife back to avoid being lonely and she triggers me like every time she speaks. So I have to get my car back and join a temp agency to get into something that can afford me an apartment. I will probably have to drive uber as well just to keep up with all the things I want to do. I might not be able to afford insurance, so going off meds is a possibility in the future.
That sounds serious…you might look for a non profit clinic that will let you get your meds? feel bad for you. sorry.
nooooo that’s horrible!
I’m sorry.
Are you in the states? Can you apply for the low income health insurance to keep your meds? General Relief financial assistance? Section 8 housing?
Best of luck, I’m possibly moving out too, but I just got section 8. Mention that you’re disabled in your application.
I don’t know if there are any around but I go to a community network place that always paid for my meds but they go by my income and whether or not I have insurance.
Well I wouldn’t even be eligible for that because $10/hr at full time is not considered low income.
I don’t live in a good area so I have to be picky with where I live and I’m sure section 8 would just stick me in the hood. Unless you can tell me something different, I can’t take it.
That’s something I never heard of. I’ll check it out.
Do you get ssi, get ssi.
Yes I do.

So she is your stepmother. You work full time?
Being homeless is what ive done for awhile, and i dont think im much older than you. Temp jobs for me were a pain especially with my doagnosis. I dont take meds but am more than likeley going to.
O thats cool, makes things easier having that extra cash.
She is my step mom yes. I currently do not work.
My state doesn’t have general relief financial assistance but I found some really great homes for $200 a month in my area. I took these right of a website that the state links. These are good areas and for only 200 a month I don’t even want to believe that.
That is terrible. Need other members’ support to try to solve your problem.
I’ll ask about this, since I have my appointment this Thursday. I’ll post what they say, if i can pick the zip code or if they automatically put me in a specific low income neighborhood. will post answer Thursday night…
can’t you qualify for medi-caid or something if you get ssi? i just googled it, you automatically qualify in some states: here’s the link:
In many states, SSI recipients automatically qualify for Medicaid and don’t have to fill out a Medicaid application.
In other states, your SSI guarantees you Medicaid eligibility, but you have to sign up for it.
In a few states, SSI doesn’t guarantee Medicaid eligibility. But most people who get SSI are still eligible.
i mean sorry that’s a quote, here’s the link:
Yes you do. In fact, I already have Medicaid. If I were to work full time, to make bills, I would no longer be eligible for Medicaid.
However, I found homes using http://www.michiganhousinglocator.com for 200 a month. Hopefully, that will be all I have to pay besides gas for my car and paying back my Dad for sending it to the shop.
I had to move out of a house last month, me and a friend rented for about 2 years.
The place I just moved into, within 10 days they put the house up for sale! Now I have to be out of the house at random times for open house showings. So rediculous. I’d have never moved in if I had known they planned to sell.
Yay life
I checked and there might be some insurance coverage for you through Obamacare, so long as you make less than 47,080 dollars a year. I think at 10 an hour, full time, that’s like 20,000-21,000 a year, according to google.
here’s the law link:

Here’s a link to see if you are eligible for any kind of government assistance. I used covered california’s website (California’s obamacare site), but I plugged in 22,000 as an income instead of my actual income (nothing). At $22,000, there is a monthly fee starting at like 70 bucks but it covers a chunk of medical bills that go over that 70 dollars each month. Hoping you can stay on meds

Glad to hear you got housing covered!
Sorry to hear about this @Apathy! Hope you find a solution!
This is bad news @Apathy. I’m sorry you are in this predicament.
Reconsider moving out. Or make sure you have all those things you mentioned in place first.
So good news. The social worker who I go to group with has given me some applications for subsidized apartments, aka apartments that charge rent by income. These are mainly good area apartments and I’ve filled most of them out already.
On a side note, I feel good like I haven’t felt in a long time. Something about someone helping you do something that you want to do feels nice.
