If you are in court in UK and have a mental illness or intellectual disability, The mental illness or intellectual disability is a mitigating circumstance so you are less likely to go to prison. If you were to get a prison sentence with a ID you are more likely to go to a secure unit than prison.

I’m not surprised.

Everyone in jail claims to have mental illness of some sort.

Usually to get decent drugs to pass their time peacefully.

There is no way to know for sure.

I was jailed for a couple weeks for throwing a plastic coffee cup at a doctor and cracking a window with a chair, trying to escape. They obviously knew I was in psychosis at the time. I was under involuntary committal. I went to jail, nonetheless. Got bailed out.

I think the people that fake mental illness after comitting a crime to go to mental hospital instead of jail/prison make it worse for those with actual illnesses. It makes you wonder tho if alot of criminals do have an illness that is the cause of the compulsion to repeatedly commit crimes rather than doing things the “right way”. Some studies add to this as their is less crime in places with more lithium in the water supply, and lithium being used as a psych med.

Yes. Lithium is interesting. I tried lithium orotate one time and it did help mood after just one dose, but because of interaction with AP’s I don’t take it.
