Had to put down our 16 year old dog Phideaux today

He’s been laying in the hall the last day and a half and refused even steak last night…this morning has been tearful and filled with grief but I know that he is in Heaven now so I don’t feel so bad…he had a long full life.

So sorry for your loss. Losing a furry friend is always hard. We lost our 14 year old maggie this year. She passed peacefully at home, didn’t make it to the vet.

Can you get the ashes from the vet? Then you can put by a pic of your dog and sometimes they do a paw print.

yes they offered to be able to retrieve the ashes but we couldn’t afford it…just the euthanasia…the vet came to the house and we sedated Phideaux so he is unconscious but she couldn’t find the vein because of the fur to give the med that stops his heart…

so while he was unconscious the vet and I carried big Phideaux to her truck and she was going to inject the med that stops his heart after she got back to her clinic…now i’m crying again…

I’m so sorry to hear about this. It reminds me about when my friends cat had to be put down. That’s the only time I’ve experienced such a thing. I am sure he had a fulfilling life though

thanks everyone…things keep popping up in my mind…at 2 o’clock we always give Phideaux his thyroid pill and to not do anything at 2 kind of had me down…I’m sure I will miss him worse after I go through the stages of grief…

Sorry for your loss. 16 is a long life for a dog, he was obviously well cared for.
