Group therapy

I’ve been in group therapy for a while. They changed who ran it after the summer holiday, and the new leader is very skilled.

I feel like group therapy is really helping with the voices. The negative ones have become milder and less dominant, and the positive ones are more noticeable. (In a good way)

It always causes the voices to be stronger on the day therapy is held, especially afterwards, but it’s worth it.
I feel like I’ve become much better at understanding my voices and dealing with them, and he’s helped me understand their origins and what they represent.

It’s a good feeling, the feeling of making noticeable progress

Who knows what it’ll be like for me a year from now? Maybe all the voices will be positive, if they’re there at all?

Has anyone else had similar experiences with therapy?

I feel better sometimes with my therapy. Haven’t tried group therapy except at the hospital. Was supposed to and missed out.

Another thing about the group is that the guy leading it also hears voices, so he understands what we talk about, and relates to it as well as talks from experience

Thank you

I was in group for a couple months. It was beneficial to be around peers going through the same stuff I am going through, and the leader of the group was a skilled psychiatrist. He would make topics that were relevant and helpful. Unfortunately, I no longer go because of the drive – it’s 35 minutes through the heart of the city and I have trouble commuting through that
