Got sent home from work today

Have allergic reaction to someone’s perfume
Go to nurse and get allergy meds to avoid being sent home
Get sent home for having allergic reaction to allergy meds
great job, body, how on earth can you be allergic to something people take to cure allergies?
The pill didn’t even stop my initial reaction to the perfume

It does happen, but I think it’s rare. You were unlucky. If they had tried another allergy med you would probably have been ok.

Are you okay though? Did you need to get an epinephrine shot?

No, it’s not life threatening, just bad enough that I couldn’t work.
I’m at home now, and I managed to keep a banana and some fluids down, so I think I’ll try to brave a piece of toast once my dizzyness fades enough that I can stand up.

IDK that to me sounds bad enough for an epinephrine shot. Anyphalaxis sometimes comes on slow, and by the time it progresses to the “trouble breathing” stage it can be too late. It shuts down all organs, it doesn’t just swell the bronchii.

I’ve had an allergic reaction to another allergy med once, and it went straight to “extremely laboured breathing” within half an hour.

No doubt my throat feels thick and itchy now, but I think that’s from the perfume reaction

I don’t know…
I’m having a little strain breathing, and my eyes and airways are sore and itchy. But like I said, might just be the perfume.

Other symptoms I’m having are are trouble swallowing, frequent urination, vomiting, dizzyness, some confusion and feeling high during the first few hours, and sluggishness.

Sounds really bad. I feel for you.

I hope your symptoms will improve, however if you get worse don’t hesitate to get help.

I can’t be near perfumes, it’s not really a allergy, I am unable to tolerate the chemicals in perfumes, my skin turns red, my breathing is cut in half and nasty hot flashes, allergy meds do nothing for it

You are describing anaphylaxis though. You should call emergency services

It will keep getting worse until you die. Call an ambulance

@Pikasaur please tell me you aren’t responding because the ambulance is there. Please update me. You last described what it feels like to die of an allergic reaction. Please tell me you got help.

I don’t have a phone, I can’t call an ambulance  And I don’t want to make a big deal out of it if it’s not severe enough to warrant a hospital visit

I’ve almost died from anaphylaxis before. It feels exactly like that. You will die if you aren’t seen very soon. Allergy pills will not stop it. You need epinephrine

What if it’s not allergy? What if I’m imagining it or sick from something else? Won’t epinephrine kill me or stop my heart?
