Got my sleep study results today

About 2 weeks ago I went in to the sleep study specialist doctor for a sleep study. I have trouble with both falling and staying asleep. Sometimes I’ll go to sleep at a decent time (10:30) and wake up at about 4:00 or 5:00 and won’t be able to go back to sleep. Or when I sleep normally it takes me about an hour to get the energy to get out of bed. I have to take geodon, xanax, and melatonin to sleep normally. I just got back from the doctor and he said that I’m not getting enough non REM stage 3 sleep and I might have some sort of hypersomnia. Then he said I have to go in to this nap study thing in July but then I won’t be able to consume caffeine or take my geodon or lamictal for two weeks for accurate results. And if they find out that I do have hypersomnia they’ll have to put me on some sort of stimulant like adderall in the morning so that would be my 7th med to take daily. I haven’t told him about how a stimulant might make my tardive dyskinesia worse and I thought the whole session was a waste of time. Now I’m waiting to see a 2nd psychiatrist on Monday for a second opinion on my TD and the rest of my side effects.

I just saw an article, but didn’t read it, might go back, but my attention is low right now, that chronic depression is caused by tardive dystopia (?) not sure how to spell that, so in fact, our anti psychotic cause this side effect that might be making us depressed. oh my goodness.

yes, I don’t sleep much either.

I think you mean tardive dystonia. It’s basically just a form of tardive dyskinesia where the involuntary movements are more slow and writhing. I don’t think I have that though. I’ve heard about AP drugs causing depression but for me the simple fact of having tardive dyskinesia makes me depressed. It’s worse cause it could be permanent but I want to see if I could taper down on my Geodon to see if my tremors lessen.

just ask your doc, no idea. it’s just something I came across, and I don’t understand the whole chemical makeup.

I have been on Trilafon (Perphenazine) for about 45 years. Much of that 45 years has been on high dosages.

I’m not exhibiting any TD, although I have had involuntary mouth movements in the past.

What I’m taking specifically for TD is Sunflower Lecithin and Sunflower Phosphatylserine.

Good luck @MaxB

It’s good that they check your sleeping problems. Maybe you will have healthy sleep when you are done with testing and getting the right medication. My pdoc has talked about sleep lab. But she talks so much and does less.

good to see you again.
