Yesterday I went to a 2nd psychiatrist for a second opinion on reducing my meds. From the interview beforehand they did a lot of talking to me about my mental health history in the past. When the psychiatrist came in he switched my diagnosis from schizoaffective disorder to major depressive disorder in remission with schizophrenia because of my symptoms. I didn’t really care but I was glad that he’s letting me taper off on my Geodon from 180mg to 160mg since I’ve been fine on them and he said that’s a pretty high dose. Although I’ll have to take 80mg in the morning now and I don’t know how that will go since it has a really bad sedating effect. He also said that tapering down can ease the unwanted tremors and twitching too. I think I’ll have him as my main psychiatrist from now on.

Thats great you found a pdoc that you like
High fives for being in remission!
Hope the med change works out well for you. It’s so nice to find a new doc you feel listens to you.
That’s great, I’m happy you like ur pdoc
When you first start taking a lot of Geodon in the morning it’s tough if you work or go to school. You will want to take a nap. But eventually you will get used to it and be okay. The high morning dose really made a difference for me in positive symptoms. I take 80 at night and 80 in the morning. Used to only take 20 in the morning and I would get fairly psychotic by the time it was time for the evening dose. I take 50 mg of Benadryl for the twitching, it works great. Good luck.
