Today was my refill day for the clozapine. I called the pharmacist to have him refill, and he said my labs came back already, and my neutrophils are low. Neutrophils are one of the body’s defenses, like white blood cells. The absolute neutrophil count has to be over 2. I’m at 1.9. Last week they were 4.4. I’m crushed, totally crushed.
Woa. Don’t give up. There’s other meds out there. And new ones on the way. Iti-007 is supposed to be more effective than clozapine. It’s only about a year away.
Eh, it will cut down on the drooling – look at the bright side!

That sucks, Alien! I’m really sorry to hear it. I think just a change in your living situation may help just as much, though. I believe you’re going to be okay.

I’m sorry man… It sucks. What’s next now? Theres a bunch of meds out there, I’m sure you’ll find a good fit.
That really sucks. I’m thinking of changing over to that medication and I’m worried that the same will happen to me. I’m so sorry it had to happen to you, finding a good med is so tough.
I don’t know. I think Thorazine is up to bat next.

Just need some clarification. What else should u monitor apart from wbc and neutrophils while being on clozapine ? I know u quit clozapine once white blood cells or neutrophils count fall below normal levels.
But is there anything else u should monitor apart from wbc and neutrophils? Do u also quit clozapine if eosinophil increases above normal levels ?

Thx. I’m on clozapine too. I used to only focus on wbc counts and used to ignore neotrophil counts on my blood reports. Although both have been normal during my clozapine treatment.
Hey alien. Sorry to hear about your blood test and subsequent need for a new med.
But don’t despair. I had tried pretty much all the meds as mono therapies before going on clozapine. I pinned all my hopes on clozapine. Unfortunately I had to stop due to problems with side effects.
I was crushed. But after a while of trying other stuff I got a combination of meds (including two APs). My current combination is even better than when I was on clozapine!
So don’t despair- will just take a bit of time to get something that works for you.
Ps unlike most folk I am a big fan of the typicals. Depixol has been a life saver for me.
