Good jobs for people with sz

My new job is too socially intensive for me. I work at a restaurant. It’s very stressful with all the interaction :frowning:

I’ve decided to start looking for something different. What are some jobs you guys would recommend for people with this condition? It should be something with minimal stress, I think. Maybe a job cleaning in the evenings since it’d be short shifts?

Being a night janitor in a church or an office building might work. I’m like you. I find anything with very much social interaction to stressful.

hey,

process work is great if you can get it…usually pays well. Ie your doing things in industry like picking goods for the supermarkets or big manufacturers. It’s physically hard but it’s decent work if you have a brain disorder…

You can pick fruit…haul cartons or do other things like put parts together…It’s nothing technically good but have a look for jobs like that…

You don’t have to do much talking…

A friend in the struggle,

Rogueone.

I’ve been a janitor for four years. Easiest job I’ve ever had out of 28 or so different jobs. I work in an office building at an army reserve building. No one really bothers me too much. I am near the office workers but its not too intensive. I wheel around a big trash can and go from cubicle to cubicle emptying wastebaskets into it and I am usually only near each office worker for 30 seconds or less. I don’t have to talk if I don’t want to but I usually at least say “hi” to most ,of them.

I get to work at 8:00 am my boss tells me to vacuum or empty wastebaskets so I go off alone and do the tasks by myself. A lot of the time I am not working near anyone at all and I can just do my duties and kind of let my mind wander and daydream about various things while I’m working. It is usually peaceful and quiet most of the day. It beats unloading trucks which I did for four years.in my thirties.

I work in an office and I literally just spend all day playing around with data.

It’s pretty good as I don’t have to really talk to anyone and I am left to my own devices.

It can be quite stressful but being at home doing nothing is stressful as well, so I don’t really see the difference.

At least working you have a distraction from your problems and it gets you out of the house. It’s the only thing I really do.

If you’re interested in going to school for it I imagine being a librarian would be low stress. Also medical records technician. Food service is just about one of the hardest jobs for anyone. Park ranger. Golf course grounds keeper

I am willing to take any job really , ANY JOB, but the problem is that there are no jobs that I can perform.

I’m unable to work too, because at the worst I’ll become catatonic and unable to function

Probably a janitor/custodian.

Personally, i want to be a developer. I have a long ways to go though. If I keep being stable, I’ll do it. End goal is working for myself. Maybe freelance.

I used to do sales and management in galleries. It was too much for me after 4-5 years because there’s pressure to sell and social skills have to be on hyper-drive… plus there are some snotty/pretentious people and it’s hard to not be rude to them.
So, I went back to what I had done in my teens and early twenties. I work with disabled students. For a long time I worked with severely disabled and now I’m with the kids who are considered mildly to moderately learning disabled at a high school. It’s perfect for me because I’m an assistant, not the teacher. I just have to help the kids stay focused and get their work done. The best thing about it for me is that it takes my mind off of myself. I have to be there for my students and not think about myself… Sometimes when I think I can’t do it and I’m having a bad morning I go and there’s always a kid who really needs me that day…

I’ve been looking into getting a job as an overnight stocker at a grocery store…seems low stress enough. The overnight hours might suck though

Working in the Library can be a good thing as long as you don’t get talked into running the children’s reading program dealing with adults and getting stressed out about children in the program who are obviously cheating. It’s too much social interaction. I didn’t have trouble with finding books for folks though because it because the task related work distracted me from my thoughts. I also found that kids are more appreciative when you find them the book they want than adults are, Shelving and keeping the books in order is also a good job to do as long as your body holds up which can become a problem with AP weight gain. I would say that the long term effects caused me foot and joint problems but then again I remember jumping off the stairs onto the sidewalk during breaks which probably didn’t help matters either. I actually kept the weight down too due to the physical exercise.
