Going to Shanghai this afternoon

My son has travelled from Sydney to Shanghai for a business trip. He doesn’t have time to come to Nanjing for a visit. So this afternoon my husband and me are going to Shanghai to meet him. We will meet tomorrow morning and then have lunch together.

I’m excited and is preparing for the conversation with him. We don’t have much oppotunity to sit together and chat. So I have to be careful about what I’ll be talking about when he is there listening to me. I hope my talks bring positive messages and good information to him.

@Moonbeam @LED Just came back from Shanghai. The family gathering turned out to be very nice and exciting. My son looked healthier and stronger. His PhD study went very well, so did the business of his small company. He expressed his wish for us to come back to Australia to live near him. We met last night and this morning. Last night I was too excited to fall asleep after having conversation with him.

Good for you @green5. Sounds like a wonderful experience. Why do you live in China Anyway?

Because my husband could not find a decent job in Australia when the former contract came to the end. He got a nice offer from a university in China. That’s why we chose to move back in China. Anyway, sounds like we will come to Australia again when my husband retired which is due in 4 years.

Okay, that’s interesting. So do you speak Mandarin? How do you get around China? Do you like it there?

Yes , I speak Mandarin. I like our life in China because I have made new friends and new progress in my learning. Without language barrier doing work and living a life in China seemed much less stressful. But my son is another story. He grew up in Australia so he has no language barrier and he will take roots in Australian society and Australian culture.

So is English actually your second language? Did you originally come from China? I would love to see China one day. To do the usual touristy stuff but also to sample the food. Western Chinese food is not good. When I’m in Melbourne I love going to China town because the cuisine there is fantastic.

Yes, English is my second language. You are very welcome if you come to China for traveling. I’d like to meet you up and show you some Chinese food. From what you have posted, I could sense you are a very nice and respectable person. I’d like to have you as my friend wherever I live or whatever language I speak.

Wow! You’re English is very good. I couldn’t actually tell from reading your posts that it is your second language. Thanks for the compliments. You come across the same way. I’d like to be friends, if you ever head my way to Queensland be sure to let me know and I’ll meet you up.
