Getting vaccinated tomorrow!

I was able to get a vaccination appointment for tomorrow afternoon.

I am so relieved. I’m having major surgery on April 6, and I feel a little better knowing that I’ll be vaccinated when I’m in the hospital.

My grandmother is getting hers today and I’m getting mine on Friday. I’ve gotta take her in I hope I don’t contract it while getting her vaccinated.

I’m glad you’re getting vaccinated tomorrow. I’m still waiting for a proper roll out here in Australia. Good luck with your surgery.

I’ve just got back from the vaccination centre.

I guess that’s almost a free ticket to go out as I please. Shame nothing is open yet.

I’m going to be visiting the uni library a fair bit now tbh. Had enough of lockdown

That must be such a relief. I have so much anxiety now when I’m about and about. I’m hoping it will decrease with the vaccine.

It is my understanding that you can still be a carrier of the virus, so please still be safe for the sake of others.

Yeah, I’ve been informed you’re a carrier still

I’ll have my mask on and continue with the sanitizer carrying

Luckily university libraries don’t really have “at risk” categories so hopefully I don’t cause anybody trouble

The anxiety will go as soon as you get the jab. I was a little anxious because of the stupid blood clot mass media scare that’s going on by various outlets even though I know enough to know the stats are not what they’re being made out to be

But yeah, I understand the anxiety. You’ll be okay

This is an important point for folks to remember. Currently, it is not really understood whether getting vaccinated protects against getting covid or whether it protects against getting covid symptoms (if the latter, a vaccinated person could still transmit the virus to others).

They are studying this for the various vaccines, so hopefully they gain some insight into this aspect of the vaccines.

In the meantime, when out in public spaces, vaccinated people will still need to adhere to all the recommended guidance such as social distancing and wearing a face mask. This is to protect unvaccinated people.

Also, with the emergence of new covid variants, the vaccines may not protect as well against these new emerging variants so, again, continuing to wear face masks and social distancing in public places is important, for the vaccinated and unvaccinated folks alike.
