Getting ripped off by tradesmen

Had a heat pump installed by guy neighbour knows. Guy is a liar. Overcharged me big time. Got a 3000 dollar shitty system for almost 6 grand.

Got ripped hard. Now having homicidal ideations and paranoia.

Idk how things go in the USA. Here you go to consumer office. If they think you have reason, they will guide you through the process and maybe have a lawyer for you.

Do you have state consumer laws?

My mom is going to get solar panels installed. She got 4 people to do a quotation and picked the best.

That’s how you do it.

Next time you need a tradesman for something expensive. You get several quotations.

I hope things pan out for you. You can do all of your research and still get the bad end of the stick sometimes. I see it on the news a lot, it’s unfortunate. Money is hard to come by.

I’m not doing anything about it. It’s annoying having this thing installed knowing its crap. He told me one of the fans was higher btu output but its the same as the one in the smaller room. Stupid thing can’t even bring the entire room to 80 degrees in cool morning weather.

You dont understand how futile it is trying to do anything.

Making calls ends up on hold for hours in total. I could call CRA (canadian IRS) and tell them he is doing cash jobs. Or call licensing and maybe get him on no license if hes not up to date. Take to small claims court, but I’ll need legal representation which will take most of the winnings if I get any
