Getting behind on chores - moral support thread

I have really let my apartment get very badly out of shape these past few months

Normally it’s kept in check by my parents visiting every Wednesday for dinner and Sunday for breakfast

Because my mother broke her ankle, they have not been round properly for a couple of months

Honestly, I just cleaned my kitchen and I want to vomit. There are flies everywhere and I have been chasing them around the kitchen for the last hour with a can of raid

Never will I let it go like this again. I am embarrassed for how I have been living, and surprised I have not been ill.

The cleaner is coming tomorrow I hope - she bailed on me last month but she only charges £30 for 2 hours

I am hoping she can do the bathroom and finish the kitchen

I also have a cleaning lady. She comes every fortnight for 3 hours. I pay her 50€.

Good luck with the cleaning!

Hope the cleaning goes well! I feel ya. I’ve gotten behind on things too and it’s so demoralizing. Outside too. Weeds have taken over and there are spiders everywhere in the garden. I’m usually up on stuff but just couldn’t get it in gear this season. :expressionless:

I throw out a lot of stuff. Literally I have the bare minimum to survive - which I succeed mainly as I use computers/phone for everything

Had a bout of depression that I am still trying to get on the right med for. Motivation with SZ sucks already, but the depression element just makes things worse!

I have thought about this, but she’s not taking on new clients and does a Saturday as a one off each month

Most of the stuff in here is needed for my business, paper work, tools, computers etc

I had a bit of wasted space in my bedroom in a corner, and I spent £100 and turned it into a walk in wardrobe and it hides everything!

It was driving me nuts tripping over tools and having work stuff all over the place

It’s so easy to get behind on these things, at least for me. For me all it takes is leaving a couple of dishes in the sink instead of washing them immediately and putting them up and soon my place is a wreck. My husband doesn’t really do housework, he says he likes doing dishes but never does but I don’t blame him, he works so hard more than 50 hours a week most weeks. But I have avoliton so bad a lot of the time (I think it’s getting better though) I just can’t do things sometimes I just see no point.

I got over 50 tool boxes full and 8 cabinets and no garage, :joy:
When I’m done working will take them all to auction

Keep doing a bit little by little. Break things down into small doable jobs and try and stick to it.

Holy ■■■■! That’s a lot of stuff

I am seeking full time employment now, but I will still keep them all

Was going to get a yard/lock up, but never got round to it

Also wanted some space to do up an old car as a hobby as I don’t spend my spare time wisely

Most days I manage to get a few things done. But if I don’t then I forgive myself and start over the next day. Recently I discovered it’s motivational to make a to do list and break everything down in small pieces and check things off the list as you get them done. You just get a little reward every time you complete something. Dishes. Check. Stove and counters. Check. I like it.

Yesterday I had 11 things to do on my list. I got 6 things done. So today I’m going to try to get those 5 things plus I have 5 other things now.

I don’t even have bed sheets on the bed at the moment. I’m tired all the time. And got so much going on.
