Getting back into cooking again

IDK why I stopped. Tonight I cooked two dishes, it was the first time I cooked in at least two months. The last thing I cooked was split pea soup with ham; I had a few bowls then froze the rest. I thawed some out a couple weeks ago but I didn’t eat it fast enough and it went bad-had to throw it out.
Now tonight I made chicken stew. Took some prep work but it wasn’t that hard. It came out great. Cooked a turkey, sour cream, cream cheese, egg noodle cheesy casserole. It came out perfect. Again, not really that hard.

But I had spent way too much on groceries these past two months and I need to save money and I need variety in my diet. So hopefully I’ll get back into cooking.

Good for you matey. I’ve found that my love of eating has made my cooking much better and it’s a good way to save money freezing meals for sure.

I’ve learned that I really enjoy cooking in my old age. After a lifetime of avoiding it like the plague due to having a husband and son who usually didn’t appreciate my efforts. And they both, in their later years, confided to me that they actually always liked my cooking. So go figure.

I am an OK cook, not a big fan of culinary skills. But I did try my best to make tasty meals for my family. I prefer doing cleaning up after meals.
