Generic antipsychotic Vs patent expiry

How does it work, how come some antipsychotic like lurasidone have generics despite their parents not expiring yet?

My pharmacy in Canada never had generic lurasidone…

My pharmacy here have generic lurasidone and according to wiki and drugs.com a generic variant was approved

Did you ask for rexulti? It’s made by the same company that made abilify

No I am on generic Risperdal and its cheap 7$CAD for a month.

Drug manufacturers have already come out with a generic for latuda that was approved by the fda in America to be safe. However, they can sell it on the market because the patent has not expired yet.

They can sell the generic when the patent hasn’t expire yet?

I’m sorry, I meant to write can’t no can. Typo

I’ve been off the site for a while. I need to get used to reading what I write before I post.

So by right you can’t sell lurasidone generic?even though it’s approved?

Correct, they can’t start selling the generic in US until Feb. 2023. From what I understand.
