The Question is would Gene therapy help mature People or it just prevents schizophrenia in children or people who haven’t developed The disease yet …I see those methods as A ( Miracle that is SO hard to be true ) You know most of us had &always will have hard days with the disease & it’s consequences for me no single drug is working , all of them simply make me flat &sleep for so long time what do you think about crispr & those methods will we wake up someday having normal brains not having any psychosis or mania /stigma / faliure / depressed mood /bad feelings or we’re so Unlucky & this is Impossible for us ?

I think A breakthrough like this needs at least 15 years to be applied…current investigational antipsychotics stays in clinical trials for 10 years and more 5 years after it gets approval to be available in different countries
What if you don’t have “the gene” ? How do they know if all Sz or SzA is caused by the same gene? Like Cancer, there are thousands of genes that cause cancer.

@Shrek, humans trials with crispr is going to start in 2018 (this year). It can allow gene editing of live human being. so if there is gene therapy found, crispr is the way to go. Only problem is there are many genes and we do not know which ones cause sz and which ones to target.Keep hope alive my friend.
