My friend’s battery is bad in his Ford Explorer. He let me buy him a new battery but insists on paying me back. It was $160.00. He’s a disabled veteran who is low income. I told him don’t worry about paying me back. Consider it a gift. But he insists on paying me for it. If he pays me he’s going to be hurting financially. I am really going to feel bad about taking his money. What do you think?
Hi mike was up…??? What are u doing now…!!!
I need to go to sleep. Volunteering tomorrow at 9am, but am wide awake.
Maybe ask him to just pay back half. Or tell him to pay only small amounts in installments. If he forgets to pay, just let it go.
Maybe if he insists on paying you back, set it aside. Use it to buy small gifts for him or maybe take him out for a meal every once in while til its gone. Then you won’t feel guilty about accepting it. And if you never mention it, no harm done and he will feel loved and appreciated.
Thanks for the advice. I didn’t think of some of those things. I already tried small amounts but he wouldn’t go for it. I think I’ll try getting him to pay half, then I’m going to forget about it and hope he does to.
Well I asked him to pay half, and he agreed. He asked me why I was being so nice. He said I don’t owe him anything.
Try to tell him that he can pay you when he has a money. Why doesn’t he want to accept it?
