Friday Night Book Haul 📚

And ohhhh lemme tell ya I picked up some goodies today!

  1. Flowers for Algernon - I think @freakonaleash said this was his favorite book. Anyways bro just want to let you know I thought of you when I got home and looked at the cover.

  2. Sirens of Titan - by Kurt Vonnegut. This one I’ve already read. It’s probably my favorite book of all time. So finding a used copy was pretty sweet.

  3. Radio Free Albemuth - This book sounds just as bizarre as the title. It’s sort of a hard to find gem by the great Sci-fi author Philip K. Dick.

  4. What We Talk About When We Talk About Love - Short stories by Raymond Carver.

This is Montezuma’s message of the day.  :v: :books:

Take care!

Aww thank you @ZombiePupper! What kind of genres do you enjoy reading? Perhaps I can recommend an author or title

I like all kinds! I’m really into fantasy, sci-fi, crime/mystery, thriller, and anything about philosophy

Thank you @MissJennyJen! I’ve read the ending to it is kind of disturbing, is that true?

Disturbing I can see why, for one of the other characters as well. Don’t want to ruin it for ya though!

Yep, that’s one of my favorites! And yeah, the ending is sad, but it’s a very good book.

@ZombiePupper Very cool!

For fantasy you might like Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin and Peter Beagle’s the Last Unicorn. I still haven’t read these but they pop up a lot in searches for ‘greatest sci fi/fantasy novels.’

For science fiction I highly recommend Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick.

@MissJennyJen Thank you! Some people like spoilers but not I. Ha!

@eighteyedspy23 There has been quite a few adaptations of it. This must be one influential book

@freakonaleash Nice to see ya online  . How are you doing?

I think I’m referring to the film Charly. I used to see it every once in a while on TV, before the advent of cable. Channels 2 4 5 7 9 11 13. And rabbit ears for an antenna.

Doing pretty well, working a lot. Have you been doing ok?

Yeah, I saw the movie from 1968, but the book is way better. You lose a lot with the movie. And I mean a lot.

Right on. Happy to hear you’re well.

I had a sort of rough past week but thankfully things have finally settled down.

Now I’m just chilling and cruising the net.

@Montezuma Black Sabbath…you just made a skunk friend for life.

But for books I’m doing Jack London’s To Build a Fire.

I’m jamming to their first album atm on YouTube.

Did Jack London also write Call of the Wild/White Fang?
