My upper left gums are swollen and hurting me. I read that tooth or gum infections can enter the blood streams and shut your organs down and kill you. It can cause sepsis and be fatal. Im freaking out right now and wont be able to see a dentist until monday.
In the meantime try contacting a doctor.
Most of them offer telehealth sessions because of Covid.
You may be prescribed an antibiotic if it’s infected.
There are emergency dentists that are open 24/7. But honestly, if it isn’t super painful, it could probably wait until Monday if it just started. It’s most likely just plaque buildup and they’ll just tell you to massage the area with a toothbrush 2-3 times a day, floss super well, and use antiseptic mouthwash.
I don’t think infections in your gums/teeth will kill you before Monday. Your dentist can prescribe antibiotics.
Thanks for the replies guys, I have calmed down a little bit. Im going to see my dentist on Monday and hopefully he prescribes me a antibiotic. I think I have an infection in my swollen gums.
You can gently flush your mouth with lukewarm salt water 3 three times a day until you can see your dentist.
I’ll try that, thanks @anon18305065
Anyone else have any opinions on this?
I didnt go dentist for 9 years and my gums were swollen, it was from plaque. Now there fine.
Well I go to the dentist for routine 6-month cleanings and check-up’s. I try to brush and use mouthwash, and not let my teeth go until my gums are swollen.
Update: I saw a dentist today and he prescribed me an antibiotic. Im also getting the tooth removed next week.
Oh good! Pull that trouble making tooth.
