Four days in a row I was trapped in family obligations

This past four days I was very engaged because of big family gatherings for a wedding. The wedding was for my husband’s cousin’s daughter and it lasted for three days. We met hundreds relatives there and talked to them. The food was very impressive. After the wedding ceremony my husband invited one of his cousin to come to our city for sightseeing. So one more day for eating together and walking together around the scenic spots. I was so tired of keeping socializing with those relatives for four days long.

I keep a loose bond with my relatives while my husband stays pretty close with his relatives. My cousins are southern Chinese who are usually quiet and polite when meeting. But most of my husband’s cousins are noisy and rude who will keep asking you to drink alcohol as showing respect to him. I hate it!!! Bloody barbaric northwestern Chinese custom!

Hey @green5 glad you survived. I don’t mind a wedding and a bar tab but it is barbarian to expect others to drink. Not healthy if your a non drinker.

Must ask you. How was the wedding? Was it romantic? Did the groom and bride look good? I have these questions from our culture difference! You didn’t say if you enjoyed it or not!

Hope your getting back to normal but how was the wedding in your words??

Yes, the wedding was pretty good from my observation. It was romantic as the groom and the bride built a bond out of free love. They were classmates at middle school so they got to know each other without the introduction of a matchmaker. On the wedding, the groom and the bride sang a song together and made vows at the witness of their relatives and friends. Also the parents of both sides made a short speech as well wishes. I love this wedding. It’s modern, romantic and hilarious.

And the bride wore long white gowns instead of red Chinese costumes! The groom wore a black suit and a tie!!!

I was amazed given both groom and bride are from the small town of a province. Not the dwellers of the big city!
