For those who have anxiety

How do you beat it? How do you not let it stop you doing things?

My coping strategies are gone and I need to rebuild them. :grimacing:

take plenty of rests, fresh air, having a glass of water always helps (or bottle) open a window, the first one is the most important

Get out of your comfort zone!

I still struggle sometimes but I commit to things with the cricket club and I just have to turn up. It always works out fine and thus why I go back but still. Sometimes I still have that anxiety and it’s hard.

Practice makes perfect kindoff in my world. Try to work through it!

I’m down to three medications now. Invega Sustenna, Lamictal and zyprexa. And I’m going off the zyprexa. For anxiety the medication I’m on seems to keep it at bay. I’m supposed to start lexapro soon. I haven’t had really bad anxiety since on the Invega pill. The injection works much better.

As for non-medicinal means. I get plenty of sleep, avoid caffeine and alcohol. I try not to eat a lot of sugar. I only eat once a day when I’m hungry. I eat healthy snacks sometimes during the day.

I cant beat my anxiety so ive just accepted it and given in to it !!!

Same as weight. Ive tried to lose it and i cant. So ive decided to throw the towel in and just accept im the fattest guy on the forum…

I think we have to learn to accept who we really are, not who we want to be or think we should be. I really havn’t beat it though. Life can be so confusing, especially when you are insane.

I don’t get a lot of anxiety these days, except when I’m driving in really tight spaces like the parking lot behind my apartment building. I get so paranoid that I’m going to hit another car, again, I’m too cautious, sometimes.

As for helping relieve anxiety, try deep breathing through your nose and maybe even lush and ambient music to relax you.

Once you manage your anxiety then it gets easier to take on challenges one at a time. You can manage your anxiety by reducing stress. Get your life in order, make sure you have a healthy, happy living arrangement. That you are surrounded by supported people. Make healthy lifestyle choices like diet and exercise, Do things you enjoy to relax you like walking and meditating or listening to music or whatever you enjoy like games. Then when there’s an activity that you need or want to go do the anxiety of it won’t be quite so overwhelming because you aren’t already too anxious. I hope this helps. Take care.

If I’m anxious I try to breathe deep and use positive self talk. It tends to only work when I have a panic attack but when it’s low grade anxiety I tend to worry. Those times I find talking with my husband or mom or sister helps. And a hug.

I have anxiety, but it’s better , comparatively speaking , than it was when I lived in Essex. A lot of that is due to the support I get, and leading a very basic/simple lifestyle .

If faced with new situations I can catastrophise a lot as to the outcome. Apparently that is not unusual for someone on the autism spectrum .
