For those who can enjoy life: what is joy and pleasure like?

Its been 10 years of anhedonia, i dont remember what it was like to get pleasure out of something. Even in the five years i was high functioning i was still only finding joy in reverie. Now its reverie to the max mixed with some pure consciousness.

It feels like that there is some kind of hope. I don’t love life but I enjoy it, and there is hope. Things are “fun” too. Not easy to explain. I used to have intense anhedonia too but its gotten better and now its less stress. Not sure if life is pure ecstasy or anything like that or ever will be, but theres hope there.

On my good days I enjoy art, writing and practicing music, sewing and projects, or walking in the woods.

I find occasional bliss in meditation. I even enjoy drug induced happiness more thanks to meditation. It takes a few weeks practice to achieve it, but it is worth the effort.

You feel happy, satisfied and the time flies.

All good answers. I have a meditation practice too, and i walk in the woods. Alcohol and caffeine are nice for about an hour then it fades, but even then i wouldnt say life is really worth living. Wish time would fly like u say @zeno, weeks go by fast anyways tho. And i miss having fun @Goyankees, i remember the ritalin high made online chatrooms fun.

If you find out let me know

I feel that way when I don’t get my caffeine or when I’m on Zyprexa. The world is pretty gray. Geodon and Seroquel are the only antipsychotics that control my mental illness and don’t make me totally miserable.

I enjoy taking my kids to activities. Maybe because nothing is really expected of me. But thats only recent since my Wellbutrin dose got upped.

The horizons open up and you start being hopeful for the future again.

When your walking with your head down, and you spot a $20. Bill waiting for you to pick it up.

I look forward to being awake the next day to enjoy something new again. Small things like the air in the morning brings back good feelings.
