The DX shouldn’t mess with the treatment Ish, a lot of bipolar folks have psychosis and take antipsychotics.

AP’s are often used for the treatment of SZ and BP. Was one of the reasons they went looking for the genetic link between the two disorders.

I see families where one sibling has schizophrenia and another sibling has bipolar disorder.

You should see a new doctir7

In my experience you can always go to a new doctor and tell t hem your previous diagnosis and they’ll take your word for it.

Nope in the uk your records follow you

I would have thought if you had a SZ dx they would be more likely to keep you on APs?

Yeah but they don’t think I have sz. They changed do to bipolar 1.

I would try not to worry about it. Like Minnie says treatments for the two can be similar. In my experience folk with bipolar don’t always have to take APs permanently. More during flare ups. Not sure though.

That’s not the case. BP1 folks take aps permenently usually, BP2 too but only in certain cases.

Certain people just take them temporarily, so you’re not that wrong. I should’ve said “some”

My Pdoc intends to take me off them in two months. !!!

You weren’t getting psychosis, probably doens’t want to overmedicate you. If you’re feeling psychotic symptoms just tell him.
