Foods you’d like to try

I don’t eat enough bugs, I mean don’t get me wrong I’ve eaten worms, ants, spiders, scorpions. But it’s only been here and there.

I’d like to try more dishes that involve them. My favorite were little crickets tossed with chili and lime.

What food would you like to try that you’ve never gotten a chance to?

I’d love to try a mealworm salad.
I’ve had fried mealworms before, it tasted like chicken skins

Ha! Some of the northern foodstuffs I haven’t tried either, a lot of the pickled and fermented seafood I’d try.

My favourite “northern foodstuff” is the reindeer dish my mother makes.

Reindeer meat, creme fraiche (sourcream), brown cheese (goat cheese) cream, broth, bacon bits, fried mushrooms and some dried berries all put together in a pot on low heat, served with jam and mashed potatoes.

It’s extremely delicious

I would love to try that, that sounds amazing!

I can’t recall if I’ve ever had reindeer. But I love various deer, moose, bison, bear meats, I don’t see why I wouldn’t like reindeer.

They’re delicious, Melty cheesy goodness, little sour cream with them. Yum!

I had alligator jerky once, but never had a BBQ gator, like I’ve seen in the south eastern USA. I’d be willing to try it.

I’ve never had oysters, and I’d like to try them. They aren’t exactly readily available here in the Midwest USA (although some restaurants have them). I’m too scared to order a whole plate of them  haha I just wanna try one to see if I’d like it

@Pikasaur that reindeer dish sounds really good

I’ve always wanted a lobster roll,

But I’ve never been to the New England area.

I think that’s where they’re most common.

I’ve never had lobster either and love lingoustines, so I reckon I’ll love it. :yum:

I wanna try tofu. Anybody have an opinion about it?

There’s a few types of tofu, if you want a lighter more custard like, go for the soft tofu.

I personally like the hard tofu, its got a better texture IMO.

One of my favorite dishes is “Mapo doufu”

Tofu in a spicy chili oil with minced meat.

I like it, but don’t try it expecting a meat substitute.

You could look up the company Entosense? I’ve bought various bugs from them before. Yummy! A good hot and spicy cricket. Once you get past legs that is.

  1. Balut
  2. Goeyducks
  3. Snails

:innocent:

I ate a cricket in a lollipop last year. That’s the extent of my knowledge of having eaten bugs. Probably ate many by accident.

I want to try Indian food.

I want the butter chicken again at this local Indian restaurant. Been years since having it, didn’t go back since developing schizophrenia.

I’ve honestly had just about everything.

Everything I hated, I now love.

I wish to try Kobe or Wagyu beef, supposed to be super delish but really expensive.

Look at the marbling on that shiiz

I can only eat young balut, my tipping point is the feathers, goeyduck I’ve had raw, and snails are great!

You ever heard of Cricket Flour? I saw a company on Shark Tank that makes crackers out of it. It’s basically just ground-up cricket corpses, and the crackers are green. I almost got sick just watching the sharks eat them.

To each his own I guess. It’s the exoskeletons that creep me out the most. I do like lobster and crab and shrimp though, and those are basically big salty sea bugs.
