It doesnt taste that great anymore. Yet all i want to do is eat and sleep that is my new life now. Is this a sign of depression? Or the meds themselves
Yes, it could be a sign of depression. I lacked the joy of food for two years while depressed. Long story - but when the depression decreased the first sign was the joy of food came back. I told it to my psychiatrist and she said it was a sign that the depressive period was over - she knew about it.
Hope it comes back to you. It’s very boring just to eat without taste and joy.
It could be the meds also. Meds suppress emotions in general. It may also suppress the good emotions you get from eating delicious foods.
Some articles I’ve read about it classify it as a kind of anhedonia, more specifically “consummatory” anhedonia, which is different from the “anticipatory” anhedonia that is more typical of both depression and schizophrenia.
It can also be a symptom of derealisation, a dissociative condition.
I’m somewhat affected myself. My taste was better during some manic episodes and for a while when taking pramipexole (a dopamine direct agonist).

I’m in the same boat.
Food is not wonderful anymore. Only calories for my meds.
I’ve lost almost all my weight now.
