Anyone have any success improving their affect? I either look pissed off or like I haven’t slept in weeks. I’ve heard the girl from living well with schizophrenia say she put a lot of effort into improving her affect but it’s hard for me to imagine her ever being flat. Any advice on improving this without looking insane?
Sorry i did not get you… Flat as in ?

A flat affect can be a negative symptom of schizophrenia, meaning that your emotional expressions don’t show outwardly. You may speak in a dull, flat voice and your face may not change. You also may have trouble understanding emotions in other people
Facial expressions
I used to be able to cover up my flat affect but nowadays I find I don’t have the energy to “act” anymore.
I used to do JRE excersie which was also having facial muscle movement exercise
Yea I feel that. I guess another angle would be trying to care less about what people think but it’s painful getting negative reactions from people all day.
Googled it and got Joe Rogan work outs. Thought that would happen lol. What’s JRE stand for?
Lol its Jacobson Relaxation Technics sorry i thought this was famous…
Beacuse after this i was the best performer in my team of escalation handlers … I got a sony tv as incentive ![]()
Living well with schizophrenia is a good PR channel for the public image of schizophrenia, but that is because she is high functioning. Also, the reason why she doesn’t have flat affect is because she actually has schizoaffective disorder. Which people with schizoaffective tend to be much higher functioning (because most of their social skills seem to be less hindered, and less negative symptoms).
