I don’t get the joke. What do sleep habits have to do with birth control? Spell it out for me.

It is a play on words. On one hand it refers to getting in to a habit of going to bed the same time every night (getting into a rhythm), and then a dirty innuendo that sleeping with a woman so that you don’t have to use a condom ( the rhythm method).

Simple, not hilarious, but mildly amusing.
