Finding the right meds, need advice

Is it true that a sz can try 5 or 6 meds then finally find one that makes life manageable?

Anyone take Olanzapine and have success with it?

It took me 6 tries to settle on a med

I take Olanzapine and it does a good job of decreasing my paranoia.

Olanzapine dont have much sideeffects.
The sedative effect goes away with time, which can be Good or bad.

Hi

Sorry you’re having a hard time with meds.

I think I read or heard somewhere that an injection allows people to stay out of hospital longer, so that might be something to think of.

I tried 4-5 meds, before going on my abilify injection and I also take Latuda.

I’ve been out of hospital for 3 years.

Goodluck!

Tried 4 APs and 1 AD, best so far is 4mg Risperdal which I am taking now. I will try Vraylar once it comes out here.

It took multiple meds in the hospital and about 4 meds outpatient to find a good combo, everyone has different results with different meds, keep going til you find the right combo.

I’ve tried seven different AP’S and two helped (risperidone and amisulpride)

Nowadays I take amisulpride with olanzapine (which helps with mood swings as well as psychosis)

On its own, olanzapine made me zombie like but in a low dose (5mg ) alongside amisulpride, it has helped. Fortunately haven’t noticed much side effects. Only terrible akathisia in the legs which drives me crazy

It took me several tries to find a med that helped. Latuda helps the positive symptoms for me and has kept me out of the hospital ever since I started taking it 8 years ago

I’ve tried the whole lot of them. Settled on clozapine, lamotrigine, zoloft and concerta. Side effects suck but better than being without.
