Fave holiday treat?

Here are my top three…

The one thing I don’t want? Shortbread cookies. They’re like the herpes of Christmas baking: You keep having outbreaks of the wretched things that take forever to clear up.

I love shortbread biscuits! The authentic ones, not the mass produced ones. I also love Lindt chocolates. They’ve made some special ones in light of the season - gingerbread is one example of this. I haven’t tried it yet, but i’d like to. Other than that, i don’t really have any other sweet favourites.

I love butterscotch confetti squares.
My mom makes these cookies called chocolate mint dreams that I love. And pink coconut squares. My family goes overkill on baking.

Wife: What should I bake?
Me: Squares!
Wife: I’m thinking of baking Granny’s ammonia cookies.
Me: Those aren’t squares.
Wife: Or I could do Mom’s molasses cookies.
Me: Also not squares. And they’re really nasty.
Wife: How about gingerbread men cookies?
Me: Do they come shaped like divorce lawyers?

Squares, dammit!

My favorite is something called Magic Cookie Bars. My mom makes them, they have graham cracker crust on the bottom, chocolate in the middle, and are topped with coconut and chocolate chips.

My MIL makes the most delicious caramels and she makes this frozen lime cheesecake type dessert that is amazing. Those are the two I’m looking forward to the most. Used to also be buckeyes (chocolate dipped peanut butter balls), but I can’t have peanut butter anymore.

Plain ol’ fashioned sugar cookies, but I make my own icing for them and use an embarrassing amount of sprinkles.

I haven’t had those in years, and I’m diabetic. Have some for me!

I usually use a stick of butter, a little less than a cup of creamy peanut butter, and about 3 cups of powdered sugar. The powdered sugar I usually just scoop in bit by bit until it’s not sticky, but not crumbly. Add more powdered sugar or more peanut butter to adjust.

Then roll them into a million balls and refrigerate for a few hours.

Then melt your chocolate (best using a double boiler so you’re not in such a rush) and add a bit of cooking wax or whatever it’s called. When it’s all melted and ready, get your peanut butter balls out of the fridge and poke one with a toothpick and dip it. Then place it on a silicone mat or wax paper or something to cool.

Thanks, hon. I figured out everything except the butter. :upside_down_face:

I love this stuff so much, but can’t have it anymore. You can get little ones for $1 at Walgreens and I was so tempted to get one and just feel like garbage for a few days. But my partner talked me out of it.

really I like my mother’s homemade cookies but she’s passed now so that’s not going to happen.

She made my grandma’s shortbread cookies with little pieces of walnuts in it and made it into balls then rolled it in powdered sugar to make a coating. It was delicious. I would eat 100 of those things.
