"family movies" that scared you as a kid

There was this one movie in my country where a kid shrunk himself and entered his grandfathers body so he could find out what made him sick. So he went on an adventure inside his body and met all these characters.

Some moments from that film scared the ever-loving crap out of me and made it hard to sleep. Don’t know what the film makers were thinking. I watched the movie a second time in class in elementary school and I couldn’t leave the room in fear of embarrassing myself in front of my class mates.

Did any “kid movies” scare you as a kid?

I managed to get traumatized when my mom took me to see Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day play as a small kid. Horrible experience. I hate Winnie to this day and I blocked my wife from trying to give the books to our kid when she was small. Can’t think of any movies that did the same, however.

Ghostbusters and honey I shrunk the kids.

The Kid Catcher from Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang was so scary, my Mom made us leave the room during those scenes when we were little.

The movie of this was also terrifying. I was afraid of heffalumps and woozles until like third grade, and still have trouble watching that scene.

No quite a movie but on the ‘fraggles’ show the giants in the garden the fraggles went in were utterly terrifying

I remember when I first saw The Neverending Story. I got scared when the bullies threw that kid in the dumpster in the beginning.
