Family and friends talked me into getting my hernia fixed

I discovered when I went snorkeling in my sister’s pool that I can’t swim without my hernia popping out. I had to sit there and push it back in in front of my family and they talked me somewhat into getting it done…I explained that mesh surgery I read a lot of horror story lawsuits with the mesh failing…I don’t want that but they asssured me that mesh surgery is a lot better than when it used to be.

I had lower belly (near genitals) hernia as a child and until ternager. When I was like 8 years old I got it done. I couldnt run because of the pain nor lift anything. I gained a lot of weight due to that. Surgery went fine, I was just bedridden and had to urinate on a bed into a special bowl. After thr surgery everything was fine, just there is always a scar.

sorry to hear that…sounds very painful…mine hurts when it pops out…my dad is a doctor and said as long as it doesn’t happen very often and I can manage pushing it back in when it happens it really isn’t a problem…but I really want to snorkel so this is important to me…thank you for sharing.

My brother had a hernia, he did ok with the surgery.

Please get it fixed, it can be pretty serious injury if it gets injured or anything happens. Its a bad deal bud.

One was a lower hernia and one was embilical. The lower one kept opening up and pinching off part of my intestine and thus kept causing infections. Actually wish I had taken care of it alot sooner.
