Does that work for you ? Fakes the smiles, fake the positivity and it actually works!!!
I faked it until I was about 39. My faking days are over. The one possible exception is with my nieces. I always act positive and upbeat around them regardless of how I feel.
I don’t think the fake it until you make it routine is healthy to be honest.
When I was quite young and at school, I used to pretend to be a dog at break and lunch times. That did not go down very well… my classmates called me a weirdo behind my back
I don’t know how else to get by. If I didn’t I would probably just have to quit working and that’s not something I want.
the fake it attitude has worked for me when it comes to positivity.
It sure beats nagging and complaining about depression
I think 98% of people fake how they’re feeling to avoid being seen as the party pooper. Convincing everyone around you that you’re OK is relatively easy: smile, head up and chest out, talk to colleagues about what you did at the weekend, what boxsets you are currently watching; go out to the pub for small talk, laugh at friends’ jokes, make sure you take the tube home; chat with your family to tell them everything’s fine…then when you’re safely in the comfort of your own home you can breathe a sigh of relief and be yourself as you hide under the duvet til the morning. Yeah, it works!
