I’m outside in the open air fcs! The campaign against smokers has reached ridiculous levels…almost as if you are evil if you light up.
Fun fact-
Winston Churchill, John Lennon and Frosty the Snowman all smoked.

YEah, I don’t think it’s evil to smoke. It’s just detrimental to your health. It’s absolutely your choice if you want to smoke. I smoked for years and enjoyed it.
I have no intention of being a hypocrite and trying to force others to quit if they dont want to.

I have nothing against smokers personally, I just don’t want them smoking near me really.
I was a heavy smoker for years till one day I decided I had enough and quit cold turkey

I actually caught a couple wiffs of another person smoking in a drive thru a couple weeks back. I enjoyed the the scent of it and liked it. Maybe thats because I recently quit though, I dunno.

I don’t fake choke and gag when buddy beside me is wolfing down a large plate of french fries.
Heart disease is the number one killer, but I don’t judge other people’s choice of vice.
Actually my brother and father were smoking cigars near me on vacation and I didn’t mind it so much.
But we were outside on the deck.

The worst are pet owners who don’t pick up after their pets…much worse than smokers in my opinion. But they aren’t vilified like smokers are.

I think part of the issue is it is displayed in an extremely bad light in media these days. Which may be a good thing? It’s probably good for those with the power to influence to discourage people from smoking.
The side effect , however, may be that smokers themselves are seen increasingly in a bad light.
Edit: I think maybe discouraging people from smoking and viewing smokers in a nasty light may be a subtle difference.
And this second-hand smoke stuff is a crock. People inhale more crap from Buses at the Bus Stop than they ever will from a light waft of my cigarette.
I just think its rude and sort of mean to “fake cough” around smokers. A woman did that to me and she glared at me. It doesn’t help encourage someone to quit to be shamed. The only thing working for me is the nicotine patch, distractions like candy etc.the fact if I smoke I’ll start wheezing and I could die very quickly. At least thats what Im being told that if my oxygen is that bad right now I cannot smoke. I dont have copd or cancer…never had covid19 no lung damage that im aware of. running more tests
I think the dangers of second hand smoke mostly is implied to be when in an enclosed area. If you are outside, yes, people probably get more damage from pollution from other sources.
Edit: I don’t think its a crock when smoking indoors like a bar, restaurant, home, ect. I don’t know about your area, but here we have laws about such(except homes of course) here. Have had it since 2008.

Well I mean hey are the people that do the fake cough around you really that important to pay attention to? Probably not.
