I had an eye exam today. There’s no damage due to diabetes. I’ve been diabetic since February 2011, and the doctor said most diabetic eye damage occurs after ten years. It’s critical that I come in once a year now.
In 2017 I had slight cataracts, but now I’m a level one cataracts, on a scale of 1 to 4 with four being the worst. She thought it might be a decade before I need cataract surgery.
I guess it’s just as well I no longer drive with my eye problems. She didn’t change my eyeglass prescription, so that saved me some money having to get new glasses.

That’s good news. Do you need insulin for your diabetes? Is it under control?

I only take pills. My blood sugar has been well controlled the past nine years.

That’s great! So that reduces risk of your eyes having damage, right?
