Expecting bad news about an elderly relative's scan

They had an operation for bowel cancer and survived that. They went for a CT scan 6 months after and following that scan, another MRI scan of their liver was ordered.

Why would they do a special scan of their liver unless they found something?

I’m worried sick. We have an appointment next week to talk to the doctor and get the results.

I’m expecting the worst. I.e. liver cancer now.

Don’t expect the worst up front, just wait and see until it’s infront of you. Maybe they are just being precautious.

I hope everything turns out alright.

You know what they say: ‘wishing for the best, preparing for the worst’.

Don’t be too worried. Sometimes doctors want a second look. CTs often have artifacts or shadows.

I hope everything is ok. Please keep us updated. Like @anon4362788 said, sometimes the scans aren’t clear and they need a better look. But needing a second look isn’t always bad.

You can develop cysts or lesions in your liver. I have five. I was told it is common. But they prolly want to make sure they are benign and not cancerous lesions. I’ll keep my fingers crossed everything is okay.
