Evidence points to link between creativity and Bipolar disorder/schizophrenia

There was this one hip hop emcee who after he died said he couldn’t sleep ever either and would constantly be working. And he was a lyrical genius i mean its hip hop yes but even for other genres he was genius level. And maybe ur mind is telling u something that u can do anything. Just find ur passion and go hard at it. The possibilites are endless with someone at ur age

yeah. I don’t really know. I may not be making any sense right now my mind is so unfocused and racy haha.

U make sense to me at least

ok that’s good.

Moved to Diagnosed since the original post didn’t include a news link and it’s also not recent news.

I wonder if that is true. My two sisters and I play music. I the saxaphone ,my older sister the trumpet and many other instruments and my youngest sister the drums. All of us also sing. My youngest sister had been ill since her late teens and is now 58. She is constantly talking but when asked who she is talking to she will just tell you to shut up. Medication no matter what they try does nothing for her. My older sister while not schizophrenic is never the less out there as well. It seems like I am the only one who is even close to being normal although who knows what normal is. I just wish they could found something to help or at least zonk her out an hour a day so I could have at least one hour a day of peace and be able to watch something without hearing her talking over everything.

I only happen to have a wide and wild imagination. :rainbow:
Speaking of creativity…yeah I’m creative as freaking hen.

im a shy genius :pill:

I don’t know about a genetic link, may well be true, but I do know the pain and confusion of growing up as someone with a highly creative and imaginative mind in a society that puts so little emphasis and encouragement into the more creative and those with rich inner realms.

Instead, despite great talents, as a young child the great emphasis was put on the areas I lacked in and my strengths virtually ignored by most, especially in ways most formative.

Society blows man.

That’s undoubtable.

I’ve read that Handel wrote “The Messiah” while he was on a three week manic episode. I think madness and creativity go together for a number of reasons. One reason is that so called normal people use most of their gray matter on human interaction and daily activities. A mentally ill person is more likely to spend more time doing nothing and reflecting on the world and its problems. A person is more likely to get the great ideas and remote associations that come with creativity if he is isolated and uses his gray matter reflecting on the world’s problems.
