Evidence for prefrontal cortex hypofunctioning in schizophrenia through somatosensory evoked potentials

PFC damage is classically found to be associated with impaired social function in general and antisocial personality disorder in particular. Could it be that SZ is a form of adult-onset APD? If so, it could explain the classical dichotomy between having aggressive urges due to inhibitory misfunction and not being “evil” people (due to having grown up with a functioning forebrain)…

It is something i have always been scared of. I was actually a very gentle, sensitive, careful, inhibited girl. All this disease & med stuff changed me a lot, im much less social and have all sorts of impulse control issues. Sometimes i feel aspd-like. But i also have moments of strong empathy. I have been crying recently because a moth flew into my port and i felt bad for it. I have quite a lot of guilt and remorse at times too. Im not sure if that matches aspd.

No clue how this works for others.

@Dosadi82 @anon77621692 are there anything have regenerates pfc dead cell…

Damn I have lots of negative symptoms…!!

Dont know… :frowning: I would take it if i found it, and immediately post it here too.

Perhaps neurofeedback helps? Hyperbaric oxygen? Ketogenic diet???

No clue tbh…

I thought I had prefrontal lobe damage. Could just be hypochondria though. I have a 3 mm white spot there. I think it was induced from trauma or something. I could be wrong though.

U could try rtms @anon77621692 …??? ask ur pdoc…!!

I have all the signs and symptoms of frontal lobe damage. I think ADHD meds can help me. I have no motivation at all not even to shower or brush my teeth. I am not depressed or anything. I also have impulse and spending issues/problems.

I think the only thing that helped me with motivation was l-theanine but I get issues now that I’m on the max dose of cymbalta: 120 mg a day.

I also think i have frontal lobe damage. Id like to have a scan. My personality changed a lot.

How does one know if they have frontal lobe damage. What are the symptoms you guys have noticed? Anti-psychotics are somehow linked to the damage, but it is more likely that the damage is caused by the underlying SZ disease. I don’t think my personality has changed that much for the worse. Antipsychotics caused me to become more social and expressive. But I do have TD which is a sign of FL damage!

No one seems to know what causes the PFC damage. My best guess, at least for a lot of cases, is environmental poisoning, in particular heavy metals like mercury or cadmium. The phrase “mad as a hatter” was coined a long time ago to describe the insanity and neurological damage caused to members of the hatmaking profession, which made heavy use of elemental mercury. Damage to the PFC was classic, heavy and irreversible.

I understand rocks, dirt and dogs.

@anon77621692, @far_cry0 There is lots of strong evidence that physical exercise works. No real evidence for anything else. I saw a Neuropsychiatrist for my cognitive deficit and he prescribed exercise. I had to get personal trainers to actually do it, due to my avolition. But I have seen dramatic improvements in all my negative symptoms and cognitive function.
