Eternal nothingness/Oblivion

How does one get over the fear of death and the possible nothingness that comes with it? It scares me.

Nobody knows what happens. Maybe there’s something…

Well, everything had a starting point from the light. You have a light body that exists in time (As a real time being) so that part of you must rejoin the light after your body stops working.

I find comfort in stories of Near Death Experiences, where like 80% of the people who have them have positive experiences that leave them forever changed. There’s negative and neutral ones too, but they are the minority.

Other than that I try not to think about it too much. I’d hate for everything to go blank and there to be nothing more, and I worry about how I’d handle a terminal diagnosis, but hopefully it won’t come to that.

It’s out of your power to control, that’s the part that’s probably important to grasp. I have problems with it too sometimes.

I use religion for this purpose. It gives me a sense of “being saved” at the end, as long as I adhere to the dogma.

Terror management theory points towards religion and faith.

Personally, I was raised in “shamanism”. Everything has a spirit, well most things. So when you die you return to the spirit world or so i’m told. Not sure whats there, but it’s more comforting thinking i’ll return to something else when i’m in the ground.

Million dollar question
Noone knows what happens after death. I worry about it when the time has come. Usually its going to be allright in the end like everything in nature.

Either I won’t know anyways or I’ll continue my consciousness into the spirit world. I tend to think there’s something but I have acceptance that I don’t know and it could be anything

I hope there’s something after.

I need to get rid of this fear, it’s always on my mind.

Live righteously and peace will be your companion. Then, it only lasts for a moment and it will be passing from peace to peace. From darkness to light. No judgment, but reward. Depending who you know and how you live. You are loved.

Knowing Jesus because he conquered death itself by suffering it and then preparing a way to the kingdom of heaven. If we follow him we will be assured of an eternal afterlife and thus like him have no fear of death

I believe in reincarnation to some degree.

I too fear the blank nothingness that might come with death.

Hopefully there is no hell.

I am tempted by the theory that time may be “emergent” (something we have sort of invented, and are foisting onto experience) so when we die we may have an eternal return, American Beauty type, timeless experience of our lives which would also be very good, very bad, and judgement, depending upon how we had lived, rolled into one.

Maybe.
